Please be advised that transferring ownership of your apartment to a trust may affect your eligibility for the Cooperative and Condominium Property Tax Abatement. In some cases, such transfers can result in the suspension or loss of the abatement unless certain requirements are met and the trust and its beneficiaries are properly registered with the New York City Department of Finance. You should consult with your attorney or tax advisor before proceeding with any transfer to determine whether you will remain eligible for the abatement and to confirm any steps required to update or re-register your eligibility following the transfer.
